Environmental
At NeoDocs-IT we are trying to do what we can to reduce the environmental impact of producing business documents. We are achieving this through reducing paper type business documents and creating these documents in electronic format, eg, creating invoices in PDF format and emailing them rather than printing and mailing them the traditional way. At the same time, instead of printing a second copy for internal records, a PDF is used as an archive record that can be searched and viewed easily using NeoDocs AMS.
Below are some simple facts that you may want to consider about printing:
- A household family of four in Australia produces 16 tonnes of CO2 per year.
- An average business will use approx 40,000 sheets of A4 paper per year. This produces 7.7 tonnes of CO2 per year, almost half of an average family.
- To produce 40,000 sheets of paper, there will be 137 trees cut down.
Also, consider:
- The transport of the paper.
- Rubbish. Even if some or all is recycled, there is still a significant cost to the environment.
- Reproducing the same document. How many times will someone ask for a copy and either another printed copy or a photocopy will be produced.
- Electronically producing the same documents and using an electronic storage and retrieval system will drastically impact on the numbers above.
